“Human is form. Being is formless. Human and Being are not separate but interwoven” – Eckhart Tolle
Who are YOU? Are “you” your form or are “you” the consciousness awareness of your form? Which would you identify “yourself” most closely with?
This is a very intriguing concept to consider when we are all so much surrounded – even submerged – in the world of form every day.
Some would deny they even have something called a consciousness or spirit and would probably argue these things are different but it is so interesting to ask what is the difference between your consciousness and your spirit? Heavy stuff we talking about here!
But for arguments sake let us say that your spirit and consciousness are one and the same and you go to sleep at night and your conscious awareness of everything slips away as you nod off into….where? Where do “you” go?
Your form is in your bed still doing its thing, still breathing for you, still beating your heart for you without your conscious need to do so. And upon awakening, do you have to come back to the exact same consciousness of who you were when you went to sleep or could you change a few things?
For instance, could you change some of your habits? Could you revise the content and meaning of your past to be something that serves you rather than holds you back? What part of you has the power to do that? It is not your form but your conscious awareness of who you think you are that you COULD use to determine to change your life. Assuming there are some things you would like to change of course.
As Eckhart so rightly says, regardless of this, we are both humans and we are beings but it is so very important to remember to distinguish between your being and your doing.
Just some fun Friday food for thought!
