Many of my clients find themselves “stuck” in a place that they don’t want to be in life.
That “place” could be a mental or emotional place (like anxiety or depression) or an actual place – like a job they don’t like or have lost enjoyment and motivation for. It could also be a relationship that is no longer bringing them joy, intimacy or growth or a body that has broken down in some way and is tired or hurting.
And the interesting thing is that most feel that they have to PUSH really hard to make a change. They think that the thing they have to do is take action but sometimes no matter how hard they work or how much effort they put in – the situation doesn’t seem to shift much.
But, what if we actually didn’t need anything to change in our external world first? What if, in fact, we could begin right now, in this very moment, to begin the mental and emotional journey of moving towards a better place?
How you might ask?
Well, it must begin with understanding firstly what we are actually thinking and feeling. The only ways we can do this on our own is by getting quiet through breathing and meditation or by journaling. Both are powerful ways of connecting and separating out the different thoughts and emotions swirling around inside us.
And as we do this we can begin to gain perspective. We can see which thoughts are helping us and which ones are driving our discomfort, frustration and pain. We can find relief mentally and emotionally and then turn to face the situation we have been so upset about and begin to see how it changes before our eyes.
As Wayne Dyer said: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” – so begin the mental and emotional journey and see how your body and your life follow in the beautiful trail that you blaze.
As always, your comments are most welcome. And feel free to share with someone you feel may find this useful. 🌟 .
